Hemovigilance (HV), designed as a systematic surveillance system encompassing the entire blood supply chain, serves as a robust quality management tool. Its primary objective is to enhance safety and elevate the quality standards throughout the process of blood donation and transfusion, spanning from the blood donor to the recipient of blood and blood components.
Recognizing the substantial effort required, it is acknowledged that the implementation of Hemovigilance in Sindh will demand a significant and time-intensive undertaking, likely spanning several years. The adoption of Hemovigilance will follow a staged or stepwise approach, commencing at the institutional level, progressing to the provincial level, and culminating at the central level. This phased implementation strategy aims to ensure a systematic and thorough integration of Hemovigilance practices, promoting a culture of safety and quality throughout the entire blood supply chain in the country.
